Kowiki Lodges

Well, the opening weekend dove hunt is nothing but good memories now. The group in the North Lodge, which was mostly Georgia boys, shot a whopping 491 birds. It was a good hunt for everyone.  And the good hunting was combined with Roseann's good home cooking. Friday night was steaks on the grill, Saturday night was smoked brisket and ribs and Sunday night it was some of the best Mexican food that included those wonderful homemade tortillas. They were hand rolled and cooked in a skillet on the stove.

KOWIKI is the Creek Indian word for quail and the inspiration for the Kowiki lodges. Avid outdoorsman Phil Culberson’s dream turned into reality, Kowiki is a true wild bird refuge in the heart of Texas specializing in all-inclusive corporate or individual group packages. Our primary focus at Kowiki is quail and the quail enthusiast. In our opinion, a “quail enthusiast” is more than just a hunter. A “quail enthusiast” is a connoisseur of well-trained dogs, a keen student of habitat, and a sportsman who enjoys the collegiality of other quail enthusiasts. We manage the habitat, create edge, and control predators. Our birds grow up wild living on more than 600 acres in the best flyway in America. We maintain a private kennel for guests who bring their own dogs. Our quail season runs from late October through late February.  We offer some of the finest dove shooting from September through October, and then again from late December through early January. We have 3 tanks (lakes) that are perfect for fly or spinner reel fishing. Our two lodges are large and cozy – perfect for entertaining corporate guests or enhancing personal friendships. Our Texas style cuisine is world class. So come, be our guests, hunt our wild quail, and enjoy the charm and hospitality of true cowboy and Indian country.

Our lodges are available for corporate and family functions. And they are wonderful settings for a wedding or reception. Give us a call and we will put together a package that will be perfect for your next important event.
